Spanish refugee camps in France had their own postal system. The refugees were able to use franchise stamps issued by the French authorities. The internees in the camps wrote freely, but their letters were subject to strong postal censorship, both before and during World War Two, with few differences between the democratic era of France and the Vichy regime.
