Abstract
Through the edition and analysis of diverse records, this work intends to achieve a deeper knowledge about the condition of those troops participating in the conquest of Gran Canaria. Among the issues under scrutiny, special attention will be devoted to conscription systems and the payment of wages as these may have determined how this army was organised and could therefore partake in the process of integration of the island into the Crown of Castile.
