A methodology is proposed to asses the relations among the city, tourism, and spatial planning from landscape and environmental perspective. To do this, we analyse how strategies to improve touristic competitiveness in the cities can be applied to spatial planning. To this end, the example of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is selected, as a laboratory of spatial planning experiences, by which the indicators and difficulties in the environmental quality can be observed. We are interested in distinguishing how this environmental elements are planned as tourism resources and their level of importance in spatial planning.
