This paper tries to contribute to the Atlantic open up of Canarian historiography, gathering several studies that can be brought together under this denomination. Therefore, an overall perspective of the sugar history has been attended, taking care of the Canary-Madeira´s “Atlántica” Project, the Spanish renewed historiographic approach and its relation with Cuba in a time of dramatic changes in the market for this product among 1875-1895, and the Brazilian growing and powerful sugar historiography, illustrated by one of the latest doctoral thesis carried out in that country. Tobacco has been the thread of three main contributions in this field: tobacco circulation in Spain, its taxation development and the construction and operation of the cigar factories. Finally, we have attended to the Atlantic expansion based on a thesis writen in our University related with the Seville society in the Lower Middle Age and another book published by the Junta de Andalucía about the salt, a very prominent commercial product in the relations between both Atlantic shores.
