El desplazamiento del poder de la facción mesista durante la Dictadura de Primo de Rivera. Las gestiones para mantener su influencia, seguidas a través de la correspondencia

La Dictadura de Primo de Rivera supuso para las nuevas generaciones del bloque oligárquico, y, más concretamente, para el sector que lideraba el alcalde de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, José Mesa y López, el apartamiento temporal de la actividad política. Sin embargo, en este trabajo analizamos cómo este repliegue inicial de muchos de los políticos procedentes de los viejos partidos dinásticos, fue algo más aparente que real, y que sólo hacía referencia al ejercicio de la política activa, estudiando a través de la correspondencia mantenida, durante los años de la Dictadura, entre Mesa y López y algunos de sus allegados, las gestiones realizadas por éste para seguir manteniendo su influencia a través de personas interpuestas en las distintas corporaciones locales, y no perder así los resortes de poder que habían controlado durante la Restauración.
