This work proposes the study of dowries from a different perspective to those carried out from an exclusively economic optic, keeping in mind that history understood as a process implies mediation and contradiction notions and systematic organization, in occasions structuring the social, politic, economic and intellectual life. The study of primary sources allows an approximation at the same time to the relationships inside the nobility centered in family strategies for the consolidation of Iineages, and to the king's politics in connection with the nobility that tries to explain from political and social history, the symbiosis among the Crown and the nobility. In spite of the "crisis" of the nobiliary patrimonies from the late XVIth century, the dowries were indispensable before the realization of a marriage and this caused many times a negative relationship between the incomes and the expenses. The indebtedness was covered in these opportunities with loan or regal favors. Anyway, ideological factors, or social regulation and power factors, made dowries necessary as mechanisms through which took place the practice of reproducting the social system.
