La pintura española de los siglos XVI y XVII en la producción impresa del Setecientos. Los grabados del MISAL de Antonio de Sancha (1780)
Abstract
En este artículo estudiamos siete grabados que ilustran un Misal editado en Madrid por el célebre impresor Antonio de Sancha (1780), perteneciente a la iglesia parroquial de Santiago Apóstol, de Realejo Alto (Tenerife). Estas obras fueron realizadas por el destacado grabador y pintor Juan Bernabé Palomino, y reproducen pinturas religiosas debidas a Juan de Juanes, Velázquez, Murillo y otros maestros de la pintura barroca española. Estos grabados constituyen una valiosa muestra de la alta calidad y dominio logrados por Palomino en sus trabajos.
In this article we study seven engravings which illustrate a Mass book published by the famous printer Antonio de Sancha in Madrid (1780), a book that belongs to the Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol, in Realejo Alto (Tenerife). These works were carried out by the outstanding engraver and painter Juan Bernabé Palomino, and they represent religious paintings by Juan de Juanes, Velázquez, Murillo and other masters of Spanish baroque painting. These engravings are a valuable example of the high quality and mastery achieved by Palomino in his works.
