Editorial Process and Arbitration System

Stages of the editorial process

The originals sent for publication will undergo an editorial process that will take place in the following stages:

1. Reception of the manuscript and acknowledgment of receipt: Once the article has been received, an email will be sent to the author as an acknowledgment of receipt.

2. Preliminary evaluation: The manuscript will be subject to a preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Board, which will verify that it complies with the thematic scope of the journal, meets the requirements of originality, novelty and relevance in scientific research, and respects the style rules.

3. Peer review (double blind system): Once the previous phase has been completed, the manuscript is sent to evaluate, at least, two experts external to the journal, using the anonymous double blind system. The evaluators must comply with the ethical code contained in the Guide for the evaluators of the journal and will issue a report by filling in the journal's evaluation form.

4. Communication of the external evaluation to the author: The journal will communicate to the author, once the requested external reports have been received, the result of the evaluation process. The report sent to the author will include, where appropriate, all the modifications that must be made in order to prepare the revised version of the manuscript, which must be sent to the journal within the agreed period.

5. Evaluation of the revised version of the article: The revised manuscript will be evaluated by the Editorial Board, comparing it with the reports made by external evaluators. In case the article needs to be reevaluated again, it will be sent to the external evaluators and the process described in § 3 will start again.

6. Communication of the final editorial decision: Once the evaluation process of the revised manuscript has been completed, the Editorial Board will notify the author of the final decision on the publication or rejection of the submitted manuscript, as well as the volume in which it is expected to be published.

7. Correction of printing proofs: Two months before the publication of the annual volume, the author will receive the printing proofs of his article, so that he can review them with the conditions set forth in the Guide for authors (see XI, § 31 and 32 ).

7. Final publication of the article: Once the proofreading process has been completed by the journal's Editorial Board, the volume will be published on the journal's website. The author will receive an electronic reprint, in PDF format.

Deadlines for the editorial process

The authors will be promptly informed about the state of their manuscript through the notifications and emails that the OJS system will generate throughout the editorial process, regardless of whether they also receive communications from the journal's email. Vegueta follows a rigorous editorial management process, based on meeting the following time limits:

1. Date of receipt of articles: The originals destined for its Studies and Reviews section can be sent throughout the year. However, manuscripts submitted for publication in the Dossier section must be sent before the deadline announced in the dossier announcement (see News section).

2. Notification of acknowledgment of receipt of the manuscript: 5 days maximum.

3. Notification to the author of the result of the preliminary evaluation: 15 days maximum.

4. Peer review process: 3 months maximum.

5. Notification to the author about the result of the peer review: 5 days maximum since the journal receives the last report from the reviewers.

6. Notification of acknowledgment of receipt of the revised manuscript: 5 days maximum.

7. Communication of the final editorial decision: 20 days maximum from the sending of the revised version of the article. In the event that the revised article should be reevaluated, the decision will be communicated to the author at the time of acknowledging receipt of the revised manuscript (see previous section).

8. Definitive publication: Because the journal publishes two issues, in January and July of each year, the time interval between the communication of acceptance of publication of the article and the definitive publication of Vegueta, may vary according to the date on that the final decision has been communicated to the author.
