In recent decades, becoming one of the most important migrant communities in the region, the Equatorial Guinean diaspora in the Community of Madrid has experienced considerable growth. This progressive increase in the migrant population has been driven not only, historically, by the political crisis and social instability in Equatorial Guinea in the 1970s and 1990s, which led to the exile of many natives and foreigners, but today, primarily by the search for better living conditions and economic and educational opportunities. This article addresses the realities of the Equatorial Guinean diaspora in Madrid, focusing on the reasons for migration in the Madrid community, its current situation, problems, and prospects for its future.
