Mediante un estudio de la sucesión testamentaria de Sabin Berthelot (1794-1880), se ofrece una aproximación al patrimonio que este antiguo cónsul poseía en Santa Cruz de Tenerife en vísperas de su muerte. Aunque la documentación reunida impide una reconstitución exhaustiva de sus bienes, permite esbozar las características de su biblioteca y sus colecciones científicas y artísticas. Además, tanto el desmantelamiento de estas colecciones según lo previsto en las disposiciones testamentarias, como los avatares de una herencia compleja, en la que vino a entrelazarse la de sus principales legatarios, brindan pistas para localizar el paradero actual del material disperso. / Through a study of the testate succession of Sabin Berthelot (1794-1880), this article offers an analysis of the assets possessed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife by this former consul on the eve of his death. Although the documentation gathered does not allow an exhaustive reckoning of his estate, it does permit an outline of the characteristics of his library and his scientific and artistic collections. In addition, both the dismantling of these collections in accordance with the provisions of the will, as much as the vicissitudes of a complex inheritance further complicated by that of its legatees, provide clues as to the current whereabouts of the distributed items.
