Pierre de Coubertin y el mensaje educativo del olimpismo moderno

Los cambios experimentados durante el siglo XIX en ámbitos corno el educativo, el social o el político, propiciarán que la educación física y el deporte se acerquen de manera ineludible al fenómeno del Olimpismo como forma de desarrollo cultural El instaurador de los Juegos Olímpicos modernos, Pierre de Coubertin, aparece en escena a finales del siglo XIX en un momento en el que bullen todas estas reflexiones pedagógicas sobre el hecho deportivo, de la que él mismo es un excelente teórico, faceta esta en la que se ha estudiado escasamente en nuestro país. La cuestión educativa, pese a lo que pudiera considerarse, se hace extensiva a toda la sociedad en su conjunto, creando para ellos universidades populares, donde todas las capas sociales podían acceder al hecho cultural. Además de reivindicar el valor educativo del discurso de Coubertin, los autores plantean una reflexión del discurso olímpico en nuestros días, señalando una lectura educativa con respecto al extendido deporte espectáculo.

Pierre de Coubertin, founded the Modern Olympic games at the end of 1 9 century. At that time there were pedagogical reflections about sports. Coubertin is, as well, an excellent sport theoretician. In our country, there is a lack of studies about this fact. The educational issue extends to the society as a whole, creating courses where any social stratum could study. Apart from claiming, the educational value of Coubertain's theory, authors bring up reflections about the Olympic theory, showing an educational view of sport entertainment.
