Resumen

La guerra de los cuatro emperadores desemboca en una rebelión que la historiografía etiqueta como la “Revuelta de los bátavos” (69-70 d.C.). Sin embargo, el conflicto arrastró a varias comunidades de galos y germanos en una serie de enfrentamientos que se insertan en la dinámica de la guerra civil entre Vespasiano y Vitelio. Partiendo del debate historiográfico que suscita este episodio por su motivación y estructura, así como las fuentes conservadas, fundamentalmente la obra Historias de Tácito, proponemos un análisis desde la perspectiva de los rebeldes. Consideramos que la identidad jugó un papel relevante y es necesario reflexionar sobre la situación provincial que llevó a unos soldados auxiliares a rebelarse contra Roma.
