La sucesión imperial en Roma: Estrategias y procesos de Preparación de los Herederos desde Augusto hasta Claudio.

El régimen de Augusto (27 a.C.-14 d.C.) marcó el tránsito hacia un gobierno dirigido por un solo individuo y el establecimiento del Imperio, junto con el inicio de la sucesión dinástica. Aunque el puesto de príncipe no era una magistratura oficial, Augusto implementó un sistema para garantizar la continuidad dinástica, evitando así posibles conflictos civiles. A través de la concesión de honores y cargos aprobados por el Senado, los candidatos a la sucesión fueron formados en diversas áreas, familiarizándose tanto con el pueblo como con las legiones. Este artículo examina cómo se institucionalizó dicho proceso formativo, apoyándose en las fuentes de historiadores antiguos como Veleyo Patérculo, Suetonio, Tácito y Dion Casio.
